Helping Children Navigate Big Feelings: Why I Created Mindful Moments Journal

As a mum and now a grandmother, I know just how tricky the ages of 7 to 11 can be for children. It’s a stage filled with change, friendships grow and shift, schoolwork becomes more demanding, and emotions sometimes feel too big to handle. Many children begin to ask deeper questions about themselves and the world, but they don’t always have the tools to express what they’re going through.

When I was a child, my world often felt confusing and lonely. I struggled with constant bullying at school, and I didn’t understand my emotions, fears, or worries. Back then, I didn’t have a safe space to process those big feelings, and I know now how much I needed one.

That’s why I created Mindful Moments Journal: For Kids Aged 7–11 to give today’s children the supportive, creative space I wish I’d had when I was their age.

Why This Journal Matters

I wrote this journal to help children slow down, explore their feelings, and discover their strengths in a safe and playful way.

Inside the journal, children will find:
✨ Daily prompts to encourage reflection and self-expression
✨ Fun breathing techniques and grounding exercises to calm busy minds
✨ Creative activities like superhero poses and doodle spaces to make mindfulness playful
✨ Gratitude and mood trackers to notice the positives in everyday life
✨ A certificate of completion to celebrate their journey

The journal doesn’t tell children what to feel or how to “do it right.” Instead, it offers gentle guidance, open-ended questions, and space to explore. Whether they write, draw, or doodle, the most important thing is that they feel safe, heard, and valued.

Speaking From Both Sides: as Parent and Grandparent

As parents and grandparents, we want the best for our children, but it’s not always easy to know how to support them through this unique stage of development. The journal is designed to be that bridge: something practical and nurturing, a tool children can return to again and again, at home or even in the classroom.

I believe that every child deserves to feel confident, resilient, and connected to themselves. And sometimes, all it takes is a pen, some imagination, and a safe space on the page.

A Gentle Invitation

If you have a child, grandchild, or even a student who could benefit from slowing down, letting go of worries, and building confidence in themselves, I invite you to take a look at Mindful Moments Journal.

It’s not just a book - it’s a journey of self-discovery, one mindful moment at a time!
